Decatur Dixie Darlings
The Decatur Dixie Darlings performed their 32nd Annual Spring Baton Twirling Recital on Saturday, April 2, 2011, before a crowded TC Almon gymnasium of more than 300 in attendance! There were 33 baton twirlers and 2 flag twirlers in the program performing to the music of Proud Mary for the Beginner twirlers and Have You Ever Seen the Rain for the Intermediate I twirlers. Intermediate II, under the direction of Keri Aycock, performed to Walking on Sunshine. The Flag girls performed to Seasons of Love B. They are under the direction of Meghan Carroll. The Darlings were absolutely beautiful in their outfits and the execution of their routines was extraordinary! The opening number was a combination of all the girls performing a marching routine to the Auburn University fight song followed by I Heard It Through the Grapevine. Twirler's are kindergarten age and up.
A three-day Twirler's Camp is scheduled this year, June 6-8, at the TC Almon Recreation Center, from 10 am to 2 pm each day. Each participant needs to bring a sack lunch and wear comfortable tennis shoes and appropriately comfortable clothes. Batons will also be available for purchase if a girl does not have one. The cost of the three-day camp is $50. For additional information please contact Vicki Linley at 256-466-3067 or the TC Almon Recreation Center at 256-341-4944.
