Austin Lady Black Bears
The 2012 Morgan County High School Softball Tournament was played at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur, AL this past weekend. The tournament included nine area varsity teams and six junior varsity teams. The 3 day event featured inner city rivals Austin and Decatur alongside the 2nd ranked Hartselle Tigers of Class 5A. Other area teams participating in this year’s event were: Brewer, Decatur Heritage, Danville, Falkville, Priceville and West Morgan. The varsity teams opened day one with pool play to determine the 9 seeds for the double elimination tournament.

Austin 9, Hartselle 2:-Tournament Semifinals
Mitchell led Austin with 2 singles as they cruised past Hartselle in the tournament semifinals. Garth finished with an RBI double while Bishop added a single.
Garland picked up the win allowing one earned run on 10 hits.
Austin 6, Hartselle 2 –Championship Game
Austin’s Lady Black Bears defeated Hartselle 6-2 to claim the championship. Hartselle began the game with a 2-0 lead but Austin quickly responded and tied the game in the bottom of the first. Two errors in the bottom of the 6th inning allowed two Lady Black Bears to occupy the bases. Austin regained the lead from Bishop's two-out bunt. A trio of RBI hits followed from Mcnutt, Garth and Higgins which resulted in 3 runs scoring while time expired. Mitchell pitched 5 strikeouts and 2 walks for the win.
