Eggstravaganza

2014 Easter Eggstravaganza

On Saturday, April 5, Decatur Parks and Recreation along with Epic Church hosted our second annual Easter Eggstravaganza at Point Mallard Park from 11:00am – 2:00pm. We had a total of 50,000 Easter eggs for 5 different age groups to hunt. We had a total of 100 grand prizes that were given away by Epic Church during the egg hunt. Pepsi Cola of Decatur donated drinks and Merchant Foods donated popcorn to be enjoyed by all. Under the Point Mallard Expo, 22 booths were set up by local companies. Each booth gave away small items to the children and some even had games to play. Mellow Mushroom and Downtown Dogs came out early and prepared their booths full of hot-dogs and pizza for all to enjoy for lunch! On the stage area, Miss Point Mallard was there to welcome everyone and Bill Crosby from Nashville entertained the kids while singing kids songs. We also had many sponsors that we would like to thank including WDRM, 100.3 The River, Pepsi, and Epic Church.

The weather started off a little on the cool side but by the time the egg hunt started, the sun was beaming through the clouds. The kids started lining up around 1:30pm for the 2:00pm Egg hunt. As the horn blew for the start, it only took minutes for the 50,000 eggs to be gathered. An estimated 3,500 people attended the Eggstravaganza this year and we will soon start planning the 2015 third annual Easter Eggstravaganza! Mark your calendar now!
