Training Information

To become a lifeguard for The City of Decatur, you must be 16 years of age. Lifeguards that are hired by the city are expected to work at all three locations, including, Point Mallard water park, Aquadome pool, and Carrie Matthews recreational pool.

We use the American Red Cross for lifeguard certifications. 

We only train Lifeguards for Decatur parks and Recreation, and Pont Mallard. We DO NOT give out certifications, or train lifeguards for other facilities.

Applications are being accepted from now until the end of May. Applications can be printed online and brought in, or you can pick one up at the Aquadome Pool, or at the Point Mallard administration office.

Please return all Applications for lifeguarding to the Point Mallard administration office, located at the ice rink.
