Year Round Swimming with Decatur Aquatics Club

While many in Decatur consider swimming a sport only for the hot summer months, the Decatur Aquatics Club swim team offers a fun alternative for swimming all year long.

Not only is swimming great exercise, but it is a lifetime sport that benefits the body and the whole person!  Swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It is a great cross-training element for other sports as well.

Studies have shown that swimmers develop life skills such as sportsmanship, time-management, self-discipline, goal-setting, and an increased sense of self-worth through their participation in the sport. Swimmers seem to do better in school, in general terms, than non-swimmers as a group.

Additionally, the Decatur Aquatics Club is a great social outlet for your child. Exchanging stories at practice, challenging each other, sharing in the hard work, and competing in swim meets make swimming a rewarding experience.

The Decatur Aquatics Club practices during the fall, winter, and early spring at the Aquadome in Decatur.  During the late spring and summer months, the team practices at the Aquadome, Carrie Matthews, and Point Mallard.

Many athletes on the swim team compete throughout the year at local and regional USA sanctioned swim meets in Huntsville, Madison, Brentwood, Nashville, Chattanooga, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Auburn.  Additionally, during the summer months, the swim team competes in numerous fun competitive inter-team meets with other community swim teams in North Alabama.

The Decatur Aquatics Club is organized into several groups of swimmers based upon swimming ability to provide the best experience for each swimmer:
