Golf Cart Policy

 

DECATUR PARKS AND RECREATION

DEPARTMENTAL POLICY

 

At the September 18, 2008, Decatur Parks and Recreation board meeting, the board unanimously passed a motion that would implement the use of golf carts at Point Mallard Park.

The Decatur Parks & Recreation Department will allow golf cart use within Point Mallard Park with the following guidelines:

·        The driver must have a current drivers license

·        There will be a 15 mile per hour speed limit except where otherwise posted

·        The golf cart will have proper lighting for use from dusk to dawn

·        Golf carts must yield the right of way to pedestrians walking/running/riding bikes

·        Golf carts can’t have off road tires except on asphalt or concrete surfaces

The areas open to golf cart use:

·       Dr. Bill Sims paved bike trail

·       Paved surfaces (service road)

·       Campground

·       Other open commons areas within the park. 

Excluded areas for golf carts within the park include:

·        The rock walking trail along the riverside

·        Strike Zone driving range

·        Any area on the Golf Course

·        All sports fields

·        Tennis Center

·        All city streets with the exception of posted golf cart crossings

 

This policy shall become effective October 16, 2008.
