NASL Fall Classic
North Alabama Soccer League hosted its first NASL Fall Classic Tournament at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex on September 22 and 23, 2012.
Tournament Director, Andy Dye, who is also President of the North Alabama Soccer League, stated the overall goal for the tournament was, in addition to generating revenue for north Alabama soccer, to promote soccer throughout North Alabama by offering positive, competitive matches for Division II, III, and IV teams and to become a premier tournament for the Southeast.
This year’s tournament was comprised of ten brackets (five girls and five boys) of Divisions II, III and IV teams, ages U9 through U18, with forty-nine teams from three states. Based on feedback from those participating and contacts with other teams, Mr. Dye anticipates more than 100 teams participating in a similar tournament in 2013, with up to seven states being represented.
