The Point Mallard open air Ice Rink was opened in 1973 but could only be used in the winter.  Today, guests can enjoy ice skating all year long in the enclosed Point Mallard Ice Complex.  Complete with shower facilities, party rooms, meeting rooms, full concessions, pro-shop and wireless sound system, the rink offers fun for all ages.  Public skate sessions and monthly home-school sessions are just a few regular features of the facility.  Figure skating and hockey lessons by pro, Charles Bernhard, the rink is the home of the Wind, Rain or Shine Figure Skating Competition and other events throughout the year.  Decatur has proven itself in the hockey world not only by the excellent coaches and skills of the players but also by hosting national and international prominent events.
